Insulator/Pipe CovererLocation: Newport News, VA.Pay Rate: $22.48 – $27.31 per hour, plus per diem for eligible non-local candidates.Schedule: Must be available to work all shifts, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.Job DescriptionNSC Staffing is seeking experienced Marine Insulators / Pipe Coverers for shipyard work in Newport News, VA. Qualified candidates must have experience installing, removing, and repairing insulation on marine piping systems and equipment. Candidates should have a strong understanding of insulation materials, proper installation techniques, and safety procedures in a shipyard environment.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, remove, and repair insulation on steam piping systems, turbines, pumps, and other shipboard equipment.Apply molded pipe sections, tempmat, calcium silicate, block insulation, and finishing cement.Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials to various piping sizes and configurations.Properly cut and apply fiberglass cloth over insulated sections, ensuring a smooth finish without excessive adhesive buildup.Demonstrate quality workmanship, including accurately cutting miters and fitting insulation materials.Apply adhesives using masking, drop cloths, and other protective measures to prevent damage to surrounding surfaces.Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications & RequirementsMinimum of 1–3 years of experience as a marine pipe coverer working on steam piping systems.Experience applying molded insulation, tempmat, and block insulation to marine piping systems and components.Ability to install, remove, and repair calcium silicate, tempmat, and finishing cement insulation.Ability to properly measure, cut, and install insulation materials, including precision miter cuts.Experience applying fiberglass cloth and adhesives while maintaining high-quality workmanship.Must be physically capable of climbing vertical ladders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.Ability to work in confined spaces and around moving equipment.Must be available to work any shift.Medical RequirementsMust be able to obtain respiratory medical clearance, including completion of the OSHA respirator medical questionnaire.Why NSC Staffing?NSC Staffing is a premier staffing firm specializing in placing skilled, technical, and professional talent across various industries, including marine, industrial, and energy sectors.
