Political Consulting/Fundraising Internship

Field: Political Fundraising and Strategic Outreach

Start Date: Immediate

Hours: Up to 5 days/week, M-F, occasional weekend and evening events; flexible to accommodate school schedules.

Hourly Wage: $15/hr minimum wage

Rice Consulting is a political consulting firm offering fundraising services and general strategic advice to Democratic candidates across Maryland.

Responsibilities:

• Research and Donor Outreach: Prospecting potential donors, including individuals, PACs, and organizations.
• Event Planning and Coordination: Organizing fundraising events, answering inquiries, and sending invitations.
• Data Entry and Database Management: Updating and maintaining the donor database.
• Communications Support: Drafting fundraising emails, social media posts, and other communications.
• Compliance Support: Reconciling event and contribution trackers.
• Creative Support: Creating and updating invitations and sponsor recognition materials.
• General Administrative Support: Answering phones, creating call sheets, running errands, and preparing materials for campaign events.

This internship provides interns with a comprehensive introduction to political fundraising, donor engagement, and compliance with political donation laws. Interns will gain hands-on experience in communications, event planning, and political strategy. Additionally, the internship offers an in-depth overview of political consulting. Staff at Rice Consulting, with experience dating back to 1992, will provide training on the goals, principles, laws, and practices of fundraising consulting, as well as its role within the broader political landscape and the path to becoming a fundraising consultant.

Qualifications:

Political Science, Government, or Law-related majors preferred but not required.

An interest in politics with a desire to learn about political fundraising and strategy.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Clear written and oral communication skills.

Keen attention to detail and ability to focus on tasks.
